Halvern Watch

The one you can wear to something serious.

An interview. A registry office. A first dinner with someone's parents. Most watches are a bit much for those rooms. Halvern Watch is not, and that is the entire point of it.

Roman numerals, and nothing else.

No sub-dials, no tachymeter, no crystals set into the face. Twelve numerals, a fine minute track and a date. Everything on this dial is there because it tells you something.

Four ways to wear it.

Steel Blue and Steel Black are the plain ones, and they are the reason to buy this watch: nothing on them argues with anything you already own. Gold Blue and Gold Green add a gold bezel, gold numerals and small crystals at the hours, for a warmer wardrobe.

Ten millimetres deep.

That is genuinely slim for a steel watch, and it is the difference between a shirt cuff closing over it and a shirt cuff fighting it. Wide enough on the wrist to read at a glance, quiet enough that nobody comments.

The clasp folds away underneath.

A hidden push-button clasp, so the bracelet reads as an unbroken run of steel all the way round rather than a buckle sitting on top of your wrist.

Still readable at three in the morning.

The hands and the numerals hold a green glow once they have had some light, so the time is simply there when you want it, without a screen in your face.

Please note: this is a 3 bar watch, which covers rain and washing your hands but not swimming or showering. The bracelet measures 21cm and is sized by removing links; the tool is in the box, but owners are consistent that the job is fiddly, so a jeweller is worth the few pounds if you would rather not. It is light on the wrist rather than a heavy slab of steel.
