Most watches are either for the office or for the weekend.

The integrated bracelet was invented to end that argument. Selwyn Watch runs the steel straight out of the case, so it reads dressy from across a room and easy up close.

Selwyn Watch in Steel Green

The bracelet is part of the case

No lugs and no gap. The steel runs straight out of a 40mm case, ten millimetres deep, in a flat three-link pattern that is brushed across the top and polished along the edges.

A sunburst dial, and no numerals

Brushed from the centre out, so it lifts and drops as you turn your wrist. Applied batons instead of numbers, a fine minute track at the edge, and day and date together at three.

Four dials, one case shape

Steel Green is the one people notice, and the one most often bought. Steel Black and Steel White go under any cuff without comment. Full Gold is gold case and gold dial together.

A clasp you cannot see

The bracelet closes on a hidden folding clasp with a push button either side. Nothing sits proud of the links, which is why it still reads as one piece when you look from the side.

The hands glow, the markers do not

Luminous coating is on the hour and minute hands only. After a few minutes under a lamp it is enough to read the time in a dark room, and it is not meant to work as a torch.

Please note: this is rated to 3 bar, which covers rain and washing your hands but not swimming, showering or diving. The bracelet is stainless steel and the case under the polish is alloy, which is part of why it weighs 110g rather than more. The day wheel carries both English and Chinese, and you advance it to the language you want. The bracelet is 22cm and is sized by removing links.

FAQ

How large does it wear?+

The case is 40mm across and 10mm deep, and the whole watch weighs 110g on the bracelet. That is a middle size: big enough to read at a glance, small enough for a slim wrist.

Is it water resistant?+

It is rated to 3 bar, or 30 metres. That covers rain, a splash and washing your hands. It does not cover swimming, showering, baths or diving, whatever the supplier listing may say.

Do the markers glow in the dark?+

The hour and minute hands are coated and glow. The applied markers are not. A few minutes under a lamp gives you enough to read the time in a dark room.

Will it fit my wrist, and how do I size it?+

The bracelet is 22cm long and 20mm wide, which suits most wrists. It is sized by removing links, and any jeweller will do that in a few minutes.

Does it need winding?+

No. It is quartz with the battery already fitted, so you set it once and leave it. It shows the day and the date, so both need correcting after a short month.

What is the glass?+

Hardlex, a hardened mineral glass. It handles everyday scuffs better than plain mineral glass, but it is not sapphire, so keep it away from keys and stone worktops.

Which colourway should I pick?+

Steel Green is the one people comment on and the one most often bought. Steel Black and Steel White disappear under a cuff. Full Gold is the loud one, gold case and gold dial.

Why does the day show in Chinese?+

The day wheel carries English and Chinese and alternates between them. Pull the crown out and advance the day until the English abbreviation shows, then set the time as normal.

Is the case stainless steel?+

The bracelet is stainless steel. The case under the polish is alloy, which is part of why the watch costs what it does and weighs 110g rather than more.
