A round watch is the default. A rectangular one is a decision.

The Fenwick Watch keeps to the rectangular case that has meant a dress watch for a century — Roman numerals, blued hands, and a leather strap that sits flat under a cuff.

Fenwick Watch in Silver Snow

The case is a rectangle, on purpose

A rectangular case is harder to wear than a round one, and that is the point. It follows the line of the wrist and the edge of a shirt cuff instead of sitting on top of them.

Roman numerals and blued hands

Printed Roman numerals sit around an engraved square panel in the centre of the dial, and the hands are a deep blued steel. It is a quiet bit of detail that only shows when the light catches it.

Five case-and-dial combinations

Silver Snow and Silver Black keep to a polished silver case. Silver Tan swaps in a lighter, coffee-toned strap on the same silver case. Rose Umber and Rose Tan move to a rose gold case with a black dial, in a dark or a lighter brown strap.

The strap is a standard 20mm band

It fastens with a plain pin buckle at about 20cm. Owners agree the strap is the ordinary part of this watch, and that any 20mm strap drops straight in and dresses it up.

Thin enough to forget you have it on

The case is about 9mm thick and narrow across, so it passes under a buttoned cuff without catching. Reviewers with a 19cm wrist call the proportions right rather than oversized.

Please note: this is a quartz watch, so it runs on a battery and needs no winding. Water resistance is limited — it is fine for rain and hand-washing, not for swimming or showering, whatever the supplier listing may say. The leather strap is a standard 20mm band on a pin buckle; several owners replace it, and any 20mm strap fits.

FAQ

How large does it wear?+

The case is around 9mm thick and narrow across the wrist. Owners with a 19cm wrist call it compact rather than oversized, and it passes under a shirt cuff.

Is it water resistant?+

Only lightly. It handles rain and washing your hands, but not swimming, showering or diving, whatever the supplier listing may say. Keep it away from hot water.

Do the numerals glow in the dark?+

No. The numerals and hands are painted, with no luminous coating, so you will need some ambient light to read the time at night.

Will it fit my wrist, and how do I size it?+

The leather strap runs to about 20cm and fastens with a pin buckle, so you set it to a hole and wear it. It suits wrists up to roughly 19 to 20cm.

Does it need winding?+

No. It is a quartz movement powered by a battery, so you set the time once and leave it. Expect to change the battery every couple of years.

What is the glass?+

A hardened mineral crystal. It shrugs off everyday scratches better than acrylic and costs far less to replace than sapphire if it ever chips.

Which colourway should I pick?+

Silver Snow and Silver Black are the quiet, formal choice. Silver Tan softens it slightly. Rose Umber and Rose Tan pair a warmer case with a black dial and stand out a little more.

Are the hands really blue?+

Yes. The hour and minute hands are a dark blued steel that reads near-black in low light and turns clearly blue when the light hits it directly. The dial itself is plain, with no sub-dials.

Is the strap any good?+

It is a plain 20mm leather band, honestly the ordinary part of the watch. It works, and if you want it dressier, any 20mm strap fits straight in.
